Do you have Oracle Data Access Components installed on the Forms server?

No I do not. Do I just need to install the ODAC 12c Release 2 and Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio (12.1.0.1.2) listed on that page on the Forms server?

I just installed the Oracle Data Access Components and tried it again and still receive the same message.

I am not very familiar with Oracle, so any details you can give me would be great.

There should be a corresponding message with more information in the Windows application log. Can you post its contents here?

Just double checked that it didn't have to do with our firewall and it does not.

I have noticed that if I go to create a new ODBC Data Source connection that it does not list any Oracle drivers. I have restarted the server to see if that would resolve the issue, but it did not.

Can you have your VAR open a support case and we'll go from there. In the meantime, I'll see what we can do about getting the setup for Oracle data sources documented in more detail.

I had installed the 32 bit version, but was running a 64 bit server. I installed the 64 bit version and the error went away. Now when I go into Forms and setup the Data Source it has the Oracle database, but when I look at Tables and Columns nothing shows up. Also, when I select which Process to have access to it, there is no way to save the setting.

In case you have not resolved the issue, for Forms Version 9 to connect to an Oracle server, it needs to have ODAC ODP.NET4 installed on the forms server.

For Forms 9.1 which is 64 bits please install the ODAC version for 64 bits. ODAC can be installed as part of the Oracle client installation if you select  the Administrative installation.  Alternatively, you can customize your installation and select ODAC as the desired component.

Also, the TNS service has to be configured at the Forms server.  You must use Oracle SQL Plus or SQL Developer to test the TNS service connection and to validate the Oracle user and password.  You cannot use a sysdba user when registering the Oracle data source.

If all the above options match your system and you are still having an issue, please contact your reseller to submit a case.

Did you ever find out what was causing the tables and columns to not show up?  I'm in the same situation.  The data source has been set up but none of the tables/columns are showing up but I know the account has access because I use the same account to do look-ups for workflow and Quick Fields.
