Question

Question

The SMTP Server must be specified

asked on January 9, 2014

I'm getting the error message above for emails in V9 Workflows. The email advanced settings have 'use default e-mail server and its sender' selected, and the server settings have been checked and are OK. I can get rid of the error message by adding the email settings under 'use the options below ...' in the email advanced dialog box in the WF designer, then clicking back to the 'used default...' option, but if I then publish, close and open it again, the error comes up again. The emails themselves are being sent OK.

Any ideas on what the problem might be, and how I can fix it?

Thanks,

John Pulman

For info, this has now been resolved. There were disabled emails in some workflows which used defunct email servers. For some reason the errors appeared on the emails with the correct server information, but once the disabled emails were either updated or deleted, the errors in the correct emails disappeared.

Is there a default email server? If you look in the WF Admin Console under External Objects\Email, is the email server there marked as default?

Yes, there was only one before (a DAG server), which was the default. I've also now added a second valid Exchange server (a specific named server), also successfully tested, and made that the default, but with those settings, I'm still getting the same error.

I can't reproduce it, can you have your reseller open a case with Tech Support so we can take a closer look?

OK, thanks for looking into this, I'll raise it with our reseller.
