Multiple WINWORD.exe applications hung up

asked on December 18, 2013

Our customer has 2 users who have multiple WINWORD.exe applications hung up when viewed in Administration Console > All Sessions.  Their process is to open a Word document that is stored in LF, make a change, then save the file ("Yes to overwrite").

Additionally, these hung connections are not cleared by the Idle Disconnect, so it's keeping those users from logging into LF.

Anybody else dealt with this before?  Thanks!

What version of Laserfiche and Office are being used?

Sorry for the delay; I'm still waiting on a response from the customer on the version of Office.  As for LF, I know they are using 9.0.2.728.

The OS version would be helpful as well.

I apologize for the delay; folks were out for the holidays.

One of the clients is 9.0.2.728 (Office 2013) and one is 9.0.1.610 (Office 2010)... both are Windows 7 machines.

Interestingly, the WINWORD.exe connections don't appear while they are working with the Word documents.  After they close LF (either manually or due to inactivity) the WINWORD.exe applications appear in All Sessions and hang there indefinitely.

I'm still having this issue.  The user opens a Word file via the client, makes changes, X's out of Word (which triggers the dialog box).  She has tried "overwrite," "save as new version," and "discard changes" with the same result.  AFTER logging out of the client completely, the WINWORD.exe connections appear in the All Sessions area of Admin Console.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We have a client who also experiences this daily for multiple users. I didn't notice that the connections appear after logging out of the client but they remain despite the user closing all instances of Word or Excel and are not closed by the idle disconnect (set at 8hrs).

We're checking on any environmental issues but may have to raise a support case although it is difficult to replicate despite it's frequency.

We've noticed this in LF version 10. Any insight into why this is happening would be helpful.
