Question

Question

Is There a FRMUser$?

asked on December 18, 2013 Show version history

Currently when setting up LF Forms to connect to a repository it requires that you use a named user's login credentials to connect to the repository. Are there any plans to create a user like the WFUser$ for workflow that does not take up a named user license?

Great question! You're correct that when you connect Forms to a repository you have to specify a named user's credentials. The good news is that Forms uses this account once, to verify the connection to the Laserfiche Server. Once connected to the server, Forms activates a special FormsUser$ account that it will use to connect to the Laserfiche Server from then on.

So, if you see "The connection to the repository has been verified" next to the Repository name on the Forms Configuration page, Forms is using the FormsUser$, not the specified named user, to connect to the repository.

Is this how it worked in 9.0? When we have the user who originally authenticated the connection change there password, it needs to be changed in the formsconfig page before it will be able to save to Laserfiche again

This is how it worked in 9.0. Save to Laserfiche uses a different account than the one for the repository connection. The user for the Save to Laserfiche feature does not need a named user license.

I don't think this is the venue for a feature request but I do agree, this should really be the case.
