Question

fi-7160 with their PaperStream IP ISIS driver with LF scanconnect

asked on December 11, 2013

When I tried installing the ISIS driver and reboot then load Laserfiche scanning, when loading the drivers, it errors out saying "Scanner driver cannot be detected". Re-launching Laserfiche scanning will make it run but the driver wont show up in choosing the scanner. Anyone out there tested this new Fujitsu scanner? If so, is it reliable enough for Laserfiche? Thanks in advance!

So the Fujitsu's used to come with Kofax VRS and used ISIS.

They now come with PaperStream but works with ISIS and TWAIN.

I've not installed the new one yet but ScanConnect shouldn't be required with the TWAIN PaperStream and hope we don't need it for ISIS. Perhaps there's a performance different  between TWAIN and ISIS but am hoping not.

Yup...I tested 2 of their scanner and PaperStream IP TWAIN does not require ScanConnect but you will still get the bare minimum scanner settings just like their previous scanners with TWAIN. I tested PaperStream IP ISIS with ScanConnect (it is required, too bad no more Kofak that saves clients to purchase ScanConnect) and the image quality it produces is slightly better.

I tried PaperStream TWAIN with a Fujitsu 6670 and the PaperStream options appeared after clicking "Scan" in Laserfiche.

  • Be sure to install the 32bit PaperStream drivers (even on a 64bit O/S)
  • Make sure VRS has been fully uninstalled before installing PaperStream
  • When choosing the source, choose TWAIN and on scanner setup, you should get PaperStream option.

Levi, we have tried Twain and ScanConnect with a fi7260 and could not get ScanConnect to even recognize the scanner even though we installed PaperStream IP ISIS drivers.  Did you have to do something special to get it to be recognized within Laserfiche?   Twain / WIA Twain didn't give us any options for adjustments other than dpi.

Sheila,

For win7/Win8, disable UAC first, then install PaperStreamIP ISIS. Make sure ScanConnect is installed. I've installed on both Win7 & Win8 with no problems at all.

I need help too.  I'm trying to get Scanconnect 8.3 to recognize the new Fi7160 scanner.  The computer sees it in the devices and printers folder.  I believe I have tried all the "fixes" suggested here but Laserfiche/Scanconnect will not recognize the existence of the Fi7160 scanner.  Very frustrating!  Is there a newer version of scannconnect?

Windows detects TWAIN/WIA drivers when listing scanners under Devices and Printers. ScanConnect uses ISIS drivers. Is the ISIS driver installed?

Yes the ISIS drivers are installed and the version is correct.

What version of Laserfiche are you using? If there is a C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Temp\ScanConnect.cache file, try deleting it and reopening LFScanning and the ScanConnect driver list.

9.0.3.798 and there is no file by that name in my temp folder.

I know this is an old thread, but I figure I share an experience related to the question as it happened to us within the past week.

I recently installed 64bit drivers for the Fujitsu 7700 on Windows 10. It worked fine for a week or so and then the system must have gotten a Windows 10 update and it was no longer visible in Laserfiche but worked fine in Windows.

Re-installing the drivers of Laserfiche client did not work. Our VAR informed us that there was something similar in answers stating to use 32bit drivers. We tried that and so far it seems like it's working fine.

If anyone is still seeing this issue, install the 32bit drivers for your scanner and that should work.
