Question

Make LF7 repository read only

asked on December 11, 2013

Hi,

We have customer running Laserfiche 7 who are about to migrate to LF9. For a period of time whilst the backups are running they wish to make the system read only so no new documents can be added or existing ones changed. During the migration the system will be offline.

I don't have an LF7 repository available to test with so is there a preferred way to do this? We could use feature rights and entry access but this would be quite complex and would need to be reversed once the migration was complete.

Thanks,

Nigel.

This may be one of the rare times when you want to use Deny for all groups at the top folder level, with a scope of Folders, Sub-Folders and Documents, for all users/groups other than the admin user.  make sure you remove the Admin user from any groups first, as Deny trumps everything.

There is a setting under Volumes in Admin Console (in property settings of the volume in question) where you can set the volume to be read-only. It will prevent user from making changes to the document or adding any new ones in.

Hope this helps.
