Question

How can I automate records management functions such as having workflow enter an Event date?

asked on November 26, 2013

I've always heard it said that Laserfiche can automate all records management functions except for final destruction. I am interesting in automating the entering of Event based cutoff dates. So far all I can find is the ability to enter an Event date manually. Can I have workflow enter that for me based on criteria such as a date metadata field?

Workflow doesn't have built-in activities for records management. You can, however, use scripts to set events dates.

Hello Miruna,

Any workflow limitations with regard to RME? More specifically, can workflows invoke Rename Entry to rename a record/folder series?

Thanks in advance,

Yes, record series are just entries.

Miruna,

Forgot to mention that the client needs to mass-update the record series' code as well. Since the code is RM specific, do I need an SDK activity and, if so, which library should I look at ?

Kindly,

Yes, you would use an SDK activity. See the section on record series in the SDK help. You could use either LFSO or RepositoryAccess (depending on your version of Workflow).
