In a sense, Laserfiche already provides what you require.

  • Create a briefcase of your documents.
  • Rename the briefcase to .tar.gz
  • Open the briefcase in WinZip, 7Zip or by using your favourite programming language.

Inside you'll find metadata as XML and copies of the documents in nicely structured folders.

I see no reason you would not be able to create a workflow/script to export out metadata as an XML, and you can go into "options" inside of LF Client to export pages as PDF/A.

In "Options" -> "Export" ->"Images" subsection (under 'File Format options'):

We are seeing greater adoption of DITA and the need to share/use information more broadly.  Does Laserfiche provide any means today to work with http://docs.oasis-open.org/dita/v1.2/os/spec/DITA1.2-spec.pdf?  We need to import/export metadata in xml in the manner prescribed.

Kenneth,

Yes, one could but using the XML generated by Laserfiche will be compatible with other Laserfiche tools, such as the one that converts the Laserfiche XML into VERS XML. Others may follow.

Mazahir,

What do you need the XML for? Will it be used for integration or the EU data exchange requirements or is it hypothetical for responding to a tender?

Hope it goes well.

We've needed to know for tenders and for WebService integration. For the latter, Workflow created the XML automatically in the integration activity.
