Question

Adding annotations to documents

asked on November 18, 2013

Hi,

I have a few questions with regards to the Laserfiche mobile app.

Are you able to add annotations (for example post-it notes) to Laserfiche documents using the Mobile app in the iPad? If so, how can this be done?

Is there functionality on how to edit and add to the same annotation?

Regards,

Laserfiche Mobile 9.0 only allows you to view annotations already on the documents. You cannot modify or add annotations using mobile. We are looking to add more annotation support in a future mobile release.

I am not currently aware of this functionality within Laserfiche Mobile app, but I do know there is a planned push towards the mobile version of Web Access with the impending update. It should allow for a lot of compatibility and functionality over the app and allow for Android users and other mobile devices to get better access when mobile

Is there a timeline for when we can expect to see the ability to add annotations to documents through the mobile apps? This has been the number 1 request I have gotten every year since we started using Laserfiche mobile.

Joshua - Are there specific annotations that your users want to be able to apply? Laserfiche supports quite a number of annotations but if there are only a few specific ones that people are looking to be able to create through Mobile it might make it easier to implement. A description of a scenario where someone would want to apply an annotation through mobile would be very useful as well!

I know that being able to take a picture and make notes about the image in an annotation would be great for our surveyors.  They currently take a picture using CamScanner and save with a specific naming scheme, email the picture as PDF and add notes.  Then the PDF is added to shared drive and processed with Quick Fields using pattern matching to extract information for a real time lookup to a database to then name the image, tell it where to put it in Laserfiche and complete template field information.  If we could just take the picture and add the annotation with info about the image in LF Mobile it could save a whole lot of manual processes.

Justin

Sorry for the late reply. But the two main annotations that people, at least here at OEC, would like to see in the app are the stamp and the textbox annotations.

This would be a valuable contribution to the mobile app release. I know within our organization we have had requests/inquiries as to the ability to add call-out boxes and post-its on documents within an agenda workflow. Currently our Town Council members and members of our staff view multiple documents on their iPads and make notes outside their meetings however would like the functionality to add notes during their meetings. Additionally, adding images for inspections would be an exponential increase in value for our inspectors in the field and allow more users to have increased functionality in the field without creating work around's in outside apps.

Any update re the ability to add notes to photos. As per Jerry above, we are deploying to engineers in a local government that carry out repair and maintenance inspections and would like to take photo of affected area and add notation to photo.

On a related mobile matter, what tablets are users/vars happy with for flash capability (I.e. taking photos in dark buildings) as there appears to be a distinct lack in the iPad range??

Still seems to be a limitation. I am looking for documentation backing up this theory.

Restating: I can see all annotations in LF Mobile App except an Attachment Annotation. Can someone confirm that this is a limitation?

Hello Elexis,

Currently you can see that the attachment annotation exists, however you are unable to view it. we do apologize for this inconvenience and a SCR(Software Change Request) has been filed already. We will be looking to implement it in a future release.

Can we add annotations in Laserfiche cloud 10.4 to email files imported through the Laserfiche add-in for outlook?
