Question

Can QF9 only scan a Bar Code on the first page of a NTFS file and then store this file as a LF Document ?

asked on November 15, 2013

Some NTFS file contains many pages with the same Bar Code but we do not want to seperate on those bar code. Only on the file first page.

Is this possible ? Can we use the%(Page count) token or Bates numering and set the condition 'Bar code is not empty AND %(Page count) = 1  for instance ?

Oh, i see. You can still do it. Like I said, set Universal Capture to keep the file structure. Then add the barcode in the Identification section. Set the document length to a large number (larger than the length of any document you might have). This way, the document length and the end of the file will work together to determine when a document is complete. Quick Fields will not attempt to identify the subsequent pages until the current document is complete (so the pages following the barcoded one will stay together). The documents with barcodes will be identified, then cut off when the file on disk ends. The other files will fail the barcode identification and go to the Unidentified documents. All their pages will fail the barcode identification as well and get appended to the unidentified doc.

If you set Universal Capture to keep files as separate documents and your session does not have any identification processes, you don't need any extra conditions. They docs will have the same structure they have on disk and you can set Barcode under Page Processing to just run on page 1.

Thanks Miruna. The problem is that there are other files in the same folder without this Bar Code on the first page and these should be Unidentified documents and sent to another LF folder. I start the QF session with QF Agent and I would like to keep the integrity of all documents, some identified others not.

Michael,

You can just have a conditional inside the document class that will set a filepath token to the other file path.

Also, you may be able to have the barcode as the identifying condition
