Question

How many lines of a multi-value token appear in the Workflow designer Track token activity?

asked on November 12, 2013

I was wondering what the limit is for the amount of values the track token will display for a multi-value token before it says that there are XX amount that could not be display. If it a character limit or a line limit?

The limit for displaying multi-value tokens in the Tokens tab in the Designer is 5 lines. If you want to see more, you can double-cllick the cell to open it in a pop-up dialog.

Token tracking has a 3700 characters per token limit.

So in the pop-up window their is a 3700 characters limit to what is displayed? That is what I was hoping to find out.

Each token value gets truncated to 3700 characters as it is written to the tracking tables. The workflow instance has access to the full value, obviously, but we only record the first 3700 characters.

Thank you for that information. That makes a lot more sense.

So during runtime, it's essentially stored in the memory and that is why I am able to manipulate tokens of extreme sized but the SQL DB/Table would not have this information as it only stored the firsst 3700 characters.

Thanks for clearing that up

Yes, both the dialog and the data stored in SQL have a limit of 3700 characters.

The data stored in the SQL DB has a limit of 3700?

does it account for this and rollover to another row? I know I have used tokens I have not been able to see in the token tracker to fill XLS files to see their values without any problems.

The info is stored on XML files on disk, not memory to safeguard it against restarting the service, but, yes, that's pretty much the idea.
