Laserfiche Authentication Service - Custom Installation

asked on November 11, 2013

We have a client that wants their Laserfiche System installed on drive E instead of Drive C. I used the Laserfiche custom installation for all components and changed the installation path to E:\Program Files\Laserfiche and E:\Program Files(x86)\Laserfiche. But the Laserfiche Authentication service keeps getting installed at C:\Program Files(x86)\Laserfiche\.

Is there a way to get this service also installed on the E drive?

I spoke with the developers on this one who informed me that the Laserfiche Authentication Service is known as a shared file, meaning that its a component that's used by multiple applications within Laserfiche.  Since this is a shared file, it will need to be installed to a default location so each componenent of Laserfiche knows where the file is located.  This default location is C:\Program Files(x86)\Laserfiche.

Thanks for the response Rob. So the default location for the Laserfiche Authentication service will be C:\Program Files(x86)\Laserfiche even if all the other Laserfiche mocules/components are installed on a different drive (in this case E:\)?

That is correct.  It sounds like some of the Laserfiche components that will need to reference the Authentication service are hard-coded to look at this path to find the service.  I've spoken with a developer about this and made them aware that this is something that we could look into modifying for a future version.

Have you verified that you are changing both installation paths?  You should see that there is one called "Install Directory" and another called "Install Directory (x86)".  The Laserfiche Authentication Service is an x86 install.

Hi Rob,

I changed both install directories to E:\ resulting in "E:\Program Files\Laserfiche" and "E:\Program Files(x86)\Laserfiche" but the Laserfiche Authentication service got installed on "C:\Program Files(x86)\Laserfiche".

This is using Laserfiche 9.0.3 installation files.
