Question

Can annotation (stamp) be made persistent in WebAccess?

asked on November 6, 2013

Customer has reports of 100 pages that they initial and date every morning.  Using WebAccess, they would like to stamp each page as they review it.  WebAccess makes them re-select the stamp on every page.

The full client, which they don’t have, works well by adding the attribute in KB 1012717. ([Options]PersistAnnotationTools attribute  with Data=True)

Is there any way to make a stamp persistent in the WebAccess client?

Hey Andy,

Yes, the persistent annotation tools attribute also works in Web Access. As with the client, you have to manually add that attribute to the user or group. However, I tried the feature out myself and found its behavior is somewhat inconsistent. It seems like Web Access is prompting you to pick a new stamp each time you change pages or close the document. Obviously, we're aware of the issue and we're going to try to address it before the upcoming release, some time towards the middle to end of Q4.

For the time, I wouldn't recommend that your customer use this feature.

Best,

Ryan

Oh, I meant obviously in that 'since I'm writing about it, I'm therefore aware of it', not that we knew of it beforehand. I actually didn't stumble upon this until attempting to answer your question, and neither did anyone else on the team.

So, really, I should be thanking you for bringing this to our attention :)

Hopefully, we'll have a fix for you and your customer soon. And by all means, keep the questions coming!

Have a good day Andy

I cannot seem to find anything like this. Maybe this will be something added to the next version of WebAccess which I believe is slated for release sometime this quarter. (https://support.laserfiche.com/ProductRoadMap.aspx)

Thanks, that is exactly the problem.  Glad you're working on it, I didn't realize it was obvious that you're aware of it since it may not be a commonly used feature in WebAccess.

regards, Andy

Version 9.1 now maintains the selected stamp throughout the document.
