Question

Why quickfield is using only one core of the CPU ?

asked on August 22, 2013

We need much more speed to recognize forms with OCR area, OMR  area  and we observed quickfield  getting slower and slower when we add another subject to the quickfield project.

We have 4 or 6 core CPU's on client machines but we can only use 1 of those cores. Do we have any chance  to use full power of CPU ?

Hi there,

Quick Fields can use more than one core, but OCR is a single threaded process meaning that it can only use a single core of the CPU, regardless of how many cores are available.  I have a few questions for you:

  • Are you using the 'Accuracy' setting on the OCR?
  • What sort of pages per minute speed are you getting?
  • Is there a machine with a faster core speed available to run the Quick Fields sessions on?
