I have a customer who would like to set up Weblink to have a login and based on the login see certain records. They currently use no login for public records and would like to keep it that way. Is this possible?

Answer
You can set up WebLink to use Windows Authentication for users. When users log in using Windows Authentication, WebLink will use the same security settings that is tied to their account. This means those users will only see files/folders that they are normally allowed to see. Keep in mind that everything will still be read-only. This can be set up in the WebLink Administration console. Another thing to keep in mind is that users will have to be a part of the active directory in the organization in order to log in to WebLink using Windows Authentication.
I noticed that you mentioned public records so I also want to clarify a couple things with this configuration. Once you configure WebLink to use Windows Authentication, anonymous public users won’t be able to connect to that WebLink instance. When you configure WebLink to allow anonymous public access, you lose the ability to apply dynamic security to users because everyone is logging in with the same credentials. In other words, you will have to choose one or the other in terms of how you want users to access WebLink.
