Removing a field from a document

I’m using Forms to submit applications into a repository, then having Workflow do a bunch of things to that newly submitted form. After I’m done processing that new form, is there any way to remove the ‘Submission ID’ field from that document/form? I don’t see an activity to remove a field. Do I have to create a custom activity?

The capability exists in Workflow to do what you need, it’s just a little vague that it works. What you can do is remove a field by using the ‘Assign Field Values’ activity (counterintuitive, I know). The key is to add the field a second time but leave the value blank. Essentially this overwrites the existing field’s value with a blank value and will delete the field.

We just tried this. It sounds a little crazy, but it does work.
