License Manager AD Synchronization

asked on April 23, 2013 Show version history

In version 9 does the AD synchronization task synchronize AD users that are in groups that are in sub AD groups of the AD group being synchronized.  For example, if we have a synchronization task setup to synchronize the AD group “Laserfiche_AllNamedUsers” and this group contains the AD group “Laserfiche_IT_NamedUsers” and within this group there are AD user accounts, will they be synchronized?

yes, AD group synchronization in Laserfiche License Manager 8.3.1 does add users from subgroups (8.3.1 is the latest release of License Manager, and is designed for use with the Laserfiche 9 product suite). So in your example, if you add a rule to assign licenses to the “Laserfiche_AllNamedUsers” group, then users who are members of the “Laserfiche_IT_NamedUsers” group will also be granted licenses.

If a user is deleted from the active directory, do we need to manually delete its license from the License Manager, or it get automatically deleted?

Dory - (A little belated, but if still relevant...) When the sync runs it basically clears and regenerates all users based on your rules except if you've specifically set up any users as 'exempt'. They will simply not be regenerated in the list and therefore effectively remove the user from the named user list.
