One of our clients wants to know if they can use barcode to tell folder Laserfiche will save the documents to. They said they will group their documents before scanning. Each group of documents will be preceded by a sheet with only a barcode in it. The barcode is some sort of a marker to tell Laserfiche where it will save the group of documents following the barcode sheet. Is this possible? If it is, can you point us to the documentation in Laserfiche website where we can get instructions how to make this possible?

Answer
Essentially Quick Fields can use the data stored in the barcodes as tokens that can be used to populate metadata fields, rename the documents, and even set the file path that the document will be stored. As a starting point, check out this white paper ‘Tips for Barcodes in Quick Fields’. Lots of our customers are using barcodes in a similar way to what you mentioned. Here’s an example from our solution exchange of a school district using barcodes.

The example in the answer appears to have a slightly broken link - it just takes me to the top of the Solution Exchange. Is the example no longer available?
