Question

Laserfiche indexing and volume clean up

asked on April 2, 2013 Show version history

I have a client asking:

“I was curious as to whether Laserfiche utilizes the Content Indexing Service on the volume file servers, or if it just relies on its own database and full text index?”

He has 3 servers (Win Server 2008 R2 64bit)   1 is the LF server running Rio 8.2       the other 2 have volumes.   Can you please answer the above question?

Also what exactly is this system volume clean up below screenshot?    Thank you very much for your support in this matter.

Indexing in Laserfiche is managed and performed by the Laserfiche Full-Text Search and Indexing Service. You can find more information regarding how that works here.

For your second question, when you delete/purge an entry in Laserfiche, the system doesn’t delete it from the disk immediately. Instead the file is moved to a queue of files that are deleted in the background. This activity that you are seeing is indicating that the background operation is currently running. In short, it’s deleting volume files that were marked for deletion.
