Question

Fill dropdown field in Forms from SQL Database

asked on May 9, 2013 Show version history

How do I fill a dropdown choices with a column from database?

I added the datasource to LF Forms but I don't think a lookup rule is what I need.

I need that when the form is open the dropbox choices are fill the the values from the column.

Thanks

You can fill a dropdown list with choices from an external database using the lookup rules in Laserfiche Forms.

To do this, create a new lookup rule that matches one dropdown list to a data source column when another field is set to a specified value.

If you automatically want to fill this dropdown when the form is opened, you would just have to hide the Car Company field and preset it to match the lookup conditions.

Hi,

I have a related question.

If I need to fill ONE drop-down in the form with data from two or more different columns from a database table, how can it be done.

e.g. I have three columns in the database with three different names, and I want those three entries, in one drop-down as three distinct entires
