Upgrading from SQL Express to full SQL is pretty straight forward. Many clients have started with SQL Express and have upgraded to Full SQL when they outgrew the system. After you install full SQL, all you have to do is follow these steps:
1) Unregister the repository from the Admin Console.
2) Detach the Laserfiche SQL database from SQL Express.
3) Attach the database to full SQL.
4) Register the repository from the Admin Console.
The migration utility will take care of everything if you are moving to full SQL at the time that you run the migration. If you have already run the migration, yes, you would then need to use the utility from KB 1012313.
Correct. There's the Server internal db update, but it's not the full blown migration utility so it wouldn't address this scenario directly.
So is this stating that the utility from KB 1012313 is no longer needed? If a Rio customer has a repository on Express that was originally from a LF7 Team Server, they can follow the steps above without running through a utility to update the schema?
Ok, thanks for the clarification. They upgraded from LF7 MSDE to LF8 Express and now are moving into a Rio system and eventually to Full SQL, so to move to Full SQL, they will run the utility from KB 1012313 since there is not a migration from 8 to 9.
