Question

Showing different fields to users in Forms

asked on April 23, 2013 Show version history

I have a customer that would like to have a multi-level approval process using FORMS. Here are the conditions:

1) When the originator fills the form, the forms should only allow access to fields 1 to 10.

2) When the second user receives a url link,he/she should have access to fields fields 11 to 15 and click [SAVE] or [Approve] to move to the next level.

3) When the third level approver receives the url link, he/she fills the form but can only access fields 16-22.

This is indeed possible with Forms.  The key here is that you would technically have 3 forms inside of your business process. Form 1 would have fields 1- 10, Form 2 would have fields 1- 15 but 1-10 would be read only and data from the first form would be passed over with variables. Form 3, would have all the fields again with variables passing the information from the previous form to this one.

From the Manage tab in Laserfiche Forms, click the down arrow next to the form name and select Copy.  This will create a new form with variables already mapped to the existing fields.  Add to the form your new fields then repeat.
