Handling Word docs in iPad App

asked on March 13, 2013 Show version history

In Florida, the courts are forcing the lawyers to e-file all the documents. The courts have required filing to be submitted in PDF. Which is not a problem.

So far, the customers are using words documents to make edits from the atty and then sends the edited word doc to their secretary or legal assistant. If they use an iPad how do they edit and re-import the word doc back to the LF server?

From the Laserfiche Mobile app, you can use “Open in…” to export electronic documents to a 3rd party app for editing purposes, and then, if that 3rd party app supports sharing/”Open in…”, you can send the document back to LF Mobile.

Since it’s up to the 3rd party apps whether or not they support sharing, you’ll definitely want to test whatever apps you’re interested in to make sure they can properly send documents to LF Mobile. For example, since you mentioned Word docs I tested this using the Pages app, and I was able to successfully send a Word document from LF Mobile to Pages, edit the document in Pages, and then use Pages’ “Share” button to send the document back to LF Mobile.
