Directory Server Add-On Deployment Needs Work

posted 13 hours ago

When registering an application and trying to select Quick Fields the app is listed with the same exact name over and over again.

The same name does not help me distinct what the difference is between these apps. We need to see Professional, Essentials, anything to clarify what is different about these apps.

I found that each one includes different Add-Ons but I can't see what Add-Ons they include.

MAY16-53BVGB2B makes no sense to a human. I still don't know what this means.

This is what I expect to see after choosing to deploy quick fields. Same as we use for every other Laserfiche application.

So now it is like ok the customer bought Agent or some Add-On for QF. Now I know it got buried into one of these apps, all with the same name.

The only way I can find it is if I register all 4, then search all the license files to find it. But sometimes it throws 2 add-ons into the same app. Now if I want to deploy one add-on to one computer and another to another computer they are stuck crammed together. Or vice versa. It is all luck if you get the right combination of Add-Ons.

Bring back the Choose Items to use on this application.

Hi Chad,

Quick Fields add-ons are not intended to be mix-and-match, and the add-on groupings are predefined in the primary license. The support site may allow it for some cases, but it's not the intended approach and thus not supported by LFDS.

However, you can both view all the add-ons and specify custom text for future reference -- that's actually where the "MAY16-53BVGB2B" is coming from in your screenshot: an administrator in that system has added a custom name.

When you select an application in LFDS, you can expand the "More details" option in the right hand details pane:

which will then show all the add-ons, serials, and GUID like so:

in that same pane, you can add a custom text where it says "Click here to add a description:

After you save the custom description, it will show in the application list like MAY16-[etc] does in your screenshot:
