On Nov 1, 2026, Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba and Alberta will stay on Permanent DST.

The impact will be as follows:

  • Clocks will not be set back by an hour at 02:00 a.m. on November 1, 2026, for their respective time zones.
  • The British Columbia time zone will permanently shift to the UTC-7 time zone.
  • The Manitoba Region time zone will permanently remain on the UTC-5 time zone.
  • The Alberta time zone will permanently shift to the UTC-6 time zone.

Laserfiche plans to release updates to its software to support this change.

Release plan

For self-hosted versions of Laserfiche:

  • Updates to version 12 Laserfiche repository server, repository web client and desktop client are expected to ship before Nov 1, 2026.
  • Other version 12 components will be patched after Nov 1, 2026.
  • Updates to version 11 will ship after Nov 1, 2026.
  • Version 10 will not be patched.

For Laserfiche Cloud:

  • New time zone settings to reflect the updated changes will be deployed for Laserfiche Cloud accounts the week of Oct 23, 2026. Customers will need to manually apply the time zone change before Nov 1, 2026 in the account settings and work schedules for workflows and business processes.

Note that Windows machines also require the October 2026 Windows update released by Microsoft on Oct 12, 2026.

Interim guidance when an update is unavailable

In cases where the monthly update cannot be received or installed before 1st of November, affected organizations with devices in one of the affected provinces are advised to switch the time zone in Windows settings to one that aligns with their respective UTC offsets.

For Laserfiche Cloud systems, the same guidance applied to machines running locally installed components.

Note that applying October 2026 Windows update to the operating system is not sufficient by itself for some Laserfiche components.
