Import Agent with multiple subfolders

asked 23 hours ago

Good Afternoon,

We are working with a scanning vendor to scan as much paper files into digital as possible, and so far Import Agent has been working well. One hiccup we found is that it can't seem to handle subfolders within a subfolder.

For example, Import Agent is watching "R:\Scans Incoming" with the "Retrieve files from subfolders" option checked. If a file is uploaded to that folder, such as "R:\Scans Incoming\File.tif" it imports fine, if a file is uploaded to "R:\Scans Incoming\2026\File.tif" it imports fine, creating a subfolder within the repository, ie "2026\File". The problem comes when there is a subfolder to that subfolder, for example "R:\Scans Incoming\2026\October\File.tif" the import fails, and event viewer records a (Entry not found. [9001]) error.

Has anyone had success with importing files within a sub folder, within another sub folder?

Right now our Document properties are:
Name: %(FileName)

Folder: IncomingScans\%(Subfolder)

I have tried Folder: IncomingScans\%(FilePath) but that then names the folder the full path to the file, as well as the file name and extension.

I noticed an option we have never used, "Set Profile Count token to..." not sure what this does, and the documentation doesn't cover it, other than you can number it. Would this help?

Thanks for any help you can provide....

Hi Eric,

  1. What's the version of your Import Agent?
  2. We were able to reproduce the issue. Could you provide the exact error message you encountered? Error 9001 is returned by LF server.
  3. Was the 2025\October folder created in the repository?
  4. The 'Set Profile Count token to ...' option only affects the starting value of the %(ProfileCount) token.

Thanks,

I would also check security on the 2026 folder for the user specified in Import Agent's connection profile to determine if this is a security issue. Maybe the user has rights to create entries under Incoming Scans, but not in any folders under Incoming Scans.
