Forms Lookup not populating Time field values

asked on October 9

We have a Forms lookup that populates Time fields within a table. The lookup completes successfully and the time values are displayed in the UI, but the values do not appear to be available to other fields containing calculations. Testing the same field with the calculation using a Number field (instead of the Time fields) works on load right away. The Time fields do not.

Because of this, calculations that depend on the lookup-populated time fields do not execute correctly.

The exact same records work correctly after either:

  • Clicking into the time field and blurring out of it, or
  • Saving the form as a draft and reopening it, or
  • Submitting the form and reopening it.
  •

At that point, the time field values are available and the calculations evaluate correctly.

We had developed a workaround using JS to get the values then set the values in a loop but that causes the table to fill in the values one at a time where each row's error messages appear and disappear as values are resolved causing a very weird (and bad) user experience.

Any insight on how to resolve this would be helpful. Is this a known bug? Any workarounds that don't involve getValues and then setValues in a loop?

Thank you.

I'm not able to reproduce with Forms 12, both on classic form and new form, once the lookup is done, formula can get the time value correctly, no matter in table or not. Could you share your Forms server version and form design, especially how the formula function is set? You may also try it out on Forms 12 see if any difference.

Hi Zhiyong, I just replicated the exact functionality in LF12 and you are correct, it works perfectly in 12! This is a LF11 bug.

Have you confirmed the data from the lookup is compatible? No mention of what data type the lookup returns. Might be a clue there :)
