Inquiry About Detecting Duplicate Document in Laserfichequestion

asked 11 hours ago

Hello ,

We would like to inquire whether Laserfiche provides any mechanism or feature to identify duplicate documents within the system.

Our main concern is that the same Document may have been entered multiple times using different names or descriptions. Therefore, searching based only on the document name may not be sufficient to identify duplicates.

Is there a way to detect or identify potentially duplicate Document by analyzing the page content, document titles, or other document characteristics, even when the transactions have been entered under different names?

This is particularly important for us because a large number of our Document are stored in Arabic. We would like to know whether Laserfiche provides any OCR, AI, indexing, or similarity-based search capabilities that can help identify documents with similar or identical content, regardless of differences in their names.

Could you please advise us on:

  • Whether Laserfiche has a built-in feature for detecting duplicate or similar documents.

  • Whether duplicate detection can be based on page content rather than document names.

  • Whether there is a recommended approach or configuration for identifying potentially duplicate Document in a large repository.

We would appreciate any recommendations or best practices from your team.

Best regards,
Abdulrheem Salah

There is not a built in de-duplication option in either the client nor the automation suite (Workflow, Quickfields, Import Agent, SDK, etc).  This has been discussed previously here and here.  You do have some options in a self-hosted system using Volume Checksums as Sam Carson mentions but you would need to build the automations to perform the querying for duplicates as well as what actions are taken on any duplicates found.
