pagination of really big form causing server to slow down

asked on September 21 • Show version history

I have a really big form process that has a start page and 43 pages using pagination and after page 7-8 the forms process has gone so slow that each action on the server takes a long time more than 30 seconds for a small action like changing names. How should I split the process or use any other technique so that the server responds faster. The number of fields in the process is also really high. Each page has at least 100 fields

Here are some ways to speed up a form in general. But your case isn't just a big form, you have a MASSIVE form.

Condense lookups into stored procedures, to reduce the number of lookups in general. Remove (where possible) lookups that depend on other lookups. Reduce the number of field rules and formulas in whatever way you can. Use JavaScript or jQuery in place of field rules and formulas. Split the form into multiple forms to breakup any remaining lookups, field rules, formulas and JavaScript you must have.

There are limitations to what you can do with Forms which should make sense. It's not unlimited. Be creative in how you deliver your requirements and your process. The Laserfiche landscape is always changing with new challenges in each version. That's the job. Best of luck!

Hi Arnav,

Could you contact the Laserfiche Support team for such performance bottleneck?

This was just adding the fields to the form/pages on self-hosted. We'd not added any Field Rules or Lookups yet. We're currently exploring putting the questions in a database table and populating a form table with them to see if reducing the number of process variables resolves the slowness issue.
