Question

Dynamic Smart Field cannot match slightly different supplier names in a dropdown list

asked on September 14

Hi,

We are currently testing Dynamic Smart Fields. We have a use case where Smart Fields extracts a supplier name from an invoice and then uses a predefined dropdown list to select the corresponding supplier.

We noticed an issue when the extracted supplier name is slightly different from the value stored in the dropdown.

For example:

Extracted value: Produit d'alimentation
Dropdown value: Produit Alimentation

In this case, Smart Fields does not select Produit Alimentation, even though both values refer to the same supplier.

Is there a way to configure Dynamic Smart Fields to use fuzzy or approximate matching when selecting a value from a dropdown list?

If this is not currently supported, what would be the recommended approach for handling this type of supplier matching?

Thank you!

Dynamic Smart Fields tolerates slight wording differences — the feature will pick the closest list value and return it in the list's exact spelling — but the final match ignores only capitalization and spacing, not accents, apostrophes, or dropped connecting words.

As a workaround, add guidance to the field's description telling it to return the supplier name exactly as written in the list rather than as printed on the invoice, and include that pair as an example — the description is used during extraction.
