Input Mask on a Single Line field

I'm setting up a phone number field using the input mask instead of the regex via the standard (xxx)xxx-xxxx value.  When I go to test/use it, the input mask value auto-populates itself in the field much like a default value would.  Is anyone else seeing this happen in their forms on Cloud?  Maybe I'm setting it up incorrectly?

For the input masks, you actually need to use '0' as the digit character, so your mask would be 

(000) 000-0000
