Question

copying or bringing files from network drives into laserfiche repository without doing anything to the original files

asked on September 4

I have tried using Import Agent and searched for possible tools/scripts other end-users have done to bring files into the laserfiche repository without moving or deleting the original documents, anyone done this before?

Import Agent monitors a folder/source and offers move or delete files post processing.  All I want is to copy the files as they come into existence or being added to the folder.  Also, I want to automate this with workflow to further process/handle the files once they're in the repository.

would love to see what you all did or how you tackle needs like this?

How about the For Each File activity in Workflow?

If you can add a name modifier (like "LF_") to the start of the Windows filename after import then you can filter out those files that start with your name modifier when you generate a list of documents to import.

Private Function GetWinFilesToImport(ByVal sNameMod As String, ByVal sFolder As String, ByVal bIncludeSubs As Boolean) As List(Of String)
Dim lstReturn As List(Of String) = New List(Of String)
            Try
Dim di As DirectoryInfo = New DirectoryInfo(sFolder)
                If di.Exists Then
Dim AllFiles() As FileInfo = di.GetFiles()
For Each fi As FileInfo In AllFiles
                        If Not fi.Name.StartsWith(sNameMod) Then
                            lstReturn.Add(fi.FullName)
                        End If
                    Next
                    If bIncludeSubs Then
Dim SubDirs() As DirectoryInfo = di.GetDirectories()
For Each SubDir As DirectoryInfo In SubDirs
                            Dim lstSubFiles As List(Of String) = GetWinFilesToImport(sNameMod, SubDir.FullName, bIncludeSubs)
                            If lstSubFiles.Count <> 0 Then
                                lstReturn.AddRange(lstSubFiles)
                            End If
                        Next
                    End If
                End If
            Catch ex As Exception

            End Try
            Return lstReturn
        End Function
