Linking Related Documents in Laserfiche Web Client Metadata

asked on August 25

Dears,

I am using Laserfiche 12 Self-Hosted.

I would like to know if it is possible in the Laserfiche Web Client to add a link to a related document within a metadata field. When the user clicks the link, it would open the target document directly.

This would be very useful because some documents are related to or depend on other documents.

I would also appreciate it if Laserfiche official team members could participate in the discussion and provide their guidance to the community.

Thank you for your support.

Hi Abdulrheem,

Are the target documents in Laserfiche as well? If so - wouldn't it be better to just use the Link method in the Details tab?:

Granted, it's not 'in metadata fields' per se; but this way it's a 'permalink' and any server name changes etc won't break anything.

You can just copy and paste a Laserfiche Web Client URL into the field and when you save the changes it will change to a clickable hyperlink:

That will work, as long as the organization is careful with their urls. You don't want to be in a situation where an upgrade means all of the links are dead.

The product has built-in document linking, accessible from the Details pane.
