Dear Laserfiche Team,
We are evaluating the feasibility of a companion application for our Laserfiche 12 Self-Hosted environment, using the Laserfiche SDK/API. The application would allow authorized users to work with documents and metadata while respecting the existing Laserfiche security and access-control model.
This is an exploratory inquiry only and does not constitute a commitment to develop or deploy such an application.
We would appreciate your guidance on the following:
1. Licensing
Is development and operation of such a companion application permitted under Laserfiche 12 Self-Hosted licensing? Please advise whether any additional licenses, user restrictions, SDK/API conditions, or registration/approval requirements apply.
2. Supported operations and limits
Please confirm support for document upload/creation, retrieval, metadata read/update, searches/queries, and other standard repository operations, and share any recommended limits on concurrency, request frequency, or batch size.
3. Performance and stability
What practices do you recommend so the application can run alongside the standard Laserfiche client without adversely affecting repository performance (e.g., session management, throttling, retries, and monitoring)?
4. Security
Please advise how authentication and authorization should be implemented so the application fully respects Laserfiche repository permissions for each authorized user.
5. Architecture
Are there recommended architectural patterns, SDK/API guidelines, or reference materials for companion applications of this type?
Any relevant documentation or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
