It would be much easier to explain how to keep the client up to date if it was a one click download from the main menu rather than sending a wall of text explaining how to get the job done.

Feature Request - Add a desktop client download link to the main menu of Cloud
Good Shout Chad,
Most other cloud platforms offer this natively as an option.
I did punt for this back in 2023 as well https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/211929/Laserfiche-Cloud--Software-Download
I do question why the LF client installers are behind a download logon wall and have an installation key. These should be freely available in my opinion.
Cheers!
Chris
We have no plans for that. The installer is linked from the documentation and the desktop client is available to all customers.
If you don't mind, what functionality does the desktop client offer that's not available in the web client?
There are several functionality differences I can attest to. Mainly around how emails are handled. I did start to put my own little list together back in 2023 as talking points when customers ask that exact question, happy to share that if it helps.
Laserfiche Web Client Cloud vs Desktop Client:-
Pros
Laserfiche AI
Locally install only Office integration, ,Snapshot & Scanning
Office preview pane available for MS Office documents
Edit MS office documents directly in Laserfiche web browser
Native DocuSign Integration (business tier only, enterprise tier not supported by Laserfiche)
Auto checkout of electronic documents
Available on mobile devices
Users can manually undo checkout themselves
Cons
When splitting pages out of documents, have to F5 in order for them to appear
Cannot drag and drop documents to desktop
Search settings/filters not remember upon logoff and logon
Cannot add custom toolbar buttons
Cannot open multiple repositories in the client window
Thumbnail document view within folder not available
Open containing folder option missing from search results
Replying to Emails requires email to be downloaded (multiple clicks compared to the desktop client) This alone stops most of MBS financial services customers moving to the web client
Password protected PDF's need to be downloaded to be opened
Cannot drag and drop documents into Laserfiche (only supported in Google Chrome)
Cannot drag and drop documents into Outlook from Laserfiche
Cannot import folders from windows explorer
I'm sure there are many more, but this is my own little list.
It is not so much that a majority of users don't use a web browser, they do. It is just that when someone needs to upgrade their windows client, they ask how to do so and I have to send them a wall of instructions that is impossible for them to finish in one go. Because part of the process involves waiting for the VAR to approve their download only after they create an account. What should be a one click execution turns into a multi-day event involving too many hands. A majority of web based / windows bases services have a one click download for the windows client on the same site the web client runs on.
