Question

Migrate shortcuts to Cloud

asked on July 23

I am trying to migrate the shortcuts from an On-Prem repository to a Cloud repository. I assume there is no manual way to do this in bulk, because trying to briefcase a shortcut to a document just turns it into a document.

Can this be done via the Replicate Entries action or an SDK Script action in a workflow?

I attempted both methods, but Replicate Entries gives "Error reading HTTP response body" and the SDK script gives "Internal TLS/SSL error."

Is this because these steps need to be performed on the server first to connect to a Cloud repo?

Thank you,

Self-hosted Workflow is not supported with Laserfiche Cloud repositories. KB 1013919 is no longer required for Workflow 11 and above to use tLS when connecting to repositories.

Hi Miruna,

Thank you for the response. This is Version 10, we are migrating to Cloud so it would not make sense to upgrade just to migrate.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. Self-hosted Workflow is NOT supported with Laserfiche Cloud, regardless of the version.

Is there a reason whole repository migration is not an option here? Replicate Entries just makes briefcases under the hood, so it would behave the same way.

I'm not 100% sure why whole repository migration was not used as the method for migration, but it may have been if migrating the Recycle Bin is not supported that way

Also, they may have been on too old a server version. Is Windows Server 2008 too old to use the migration tool?

Oh, hm, yeah, Windows 2008 would do it.

There is no way to move the shortcuts by themselves using briefcases. If you include only shortcuts in selected entries, they'll be replaced by their respective documents. If you include both the shortcut and the target entry, the shortcut will be recreated on import to point at the newly imported target entry (which is not what you'd want).

The only way i could think of is and SDK or API script to iterate over the shortcuts in the local repo and then find their corresponding entry in the Cloud repo and recreate shortcuts in the Cloud repo.

I did mention the SDK as a possible option, to do what you suggested, but as mentioned that server will not connect to the Cloud Repository via SDK Script in Workflow.

Right, you would have to do this without Workflow as the orchestration engine.

So we should have no problems having an SDK script connect to both the On Prem (10.4.1) and Cloud repositories on that Windows 2008 Server?

Yes. SDK 10.4 will need the registry key changes detailed in  KB 1013919 to use TLS.
