Feature Request - Smart Chat page reference

asked on July 16

Hi All,

When using smart chat across multiple documents, it will give you the references of where it found the information you were asking about. It doesn't do this within a document however. If you ask it where did you find this information, it simply re-outputs the previous answer.

Can page or paragraph references within a document please be added as a feature?

Thanks!

Chris

You're right that in-document citations don't currently work the way cross-document references do: when Smart Chat is scoped to a single document, it doesn't surface where in that document the answer came from, and asking a follow-up just re-summarizes the previous response.

This is a good feature idea, and it's something we'll be looking into as a product improvement. Page and paragraph-level references within a document would make it much easier to verify answers and jump straight to the source, which is exactly the kind of traceability the multi-document experience already provides.

I don't have a timeline to share yet, but I've captured the request so it can be considered as we plan future enhancements to Smart Chat. If you have examples of documents where this would be especially useful (long contracts, policy manuals, scanned records, etc.), that context is helpful for prioritization.

Thanks Shawn, you're spot on with your context examples. Thanks for raising this FQ.
