Question

Weblink 11 Folder and File Colors

asked on June 26

Greetings, we have upgraded/migrated a WL 10-1 environment to WL 11 sp 6 and when browsing or searching the icons for folders and files are white and plain. In 10 or earlier they were yellow and the files more colored too.

Does anyone know where I can find how to change the look of the files and folder icons back to what they should be or is this just the way it is going to be? The appearance is not pleasing and really should not be difficult but it is elluding me.

Thanks in advance.

Typically the Colors were assigned to the Metadata template, which when applied to a document changed the color of the Folder or Document to the Templates assigned color.

Ok, so why would that not have carried over to WL11? I might be missing something but if the colors were assigned to the templates, why would each site I have in WL 10 have the same yellow color for the folders, and greenish color for the documents regardless of the template used? Then in WL 11 they are all white regardless of the template used? I have several sites with different templates and the only difference in color is seen between WL 10 and WL 11 and not the templates used. To my recollection, I have never altered the colors assigned to the templates, so this is where I am puzzled. The 2 pictures above are the same folders and same template, but one it from WL10 and the other WL11.

Form your screenshot I believe those were the default icons for version 10, and they were changed in version 11.

Ok, again can they be changed?

I might be overthinking it, but people with visual difficulties ore even people who don't might not like the white folders and white files.

In the Admin Console for the repository in question, you can edit template colors. That will change the icon colors in the Web Client if a folder or document has that template, but I don't know if it changes the colors in WebLink. There isn't a way to change the default colors themselves though.

Well, I am not sure if people would like me doing that for their templates internally. That was why I was confused as if they had been changed that way, it should have been reflected in WL 10 and WL 11, but I have never changed the colors that way. So, I figured it had to be WL 11 itself.

I am a bit puzzled (to put it nicely) as to why it would be considered better to have plain icons of the same color for both folders and files. I would hope that this is something that can be resolved.
