SQL Server full text on Windows Server 2025

asked on June 21

Hi

I am running laserfiche 12 on Windows Server 2016 with SQL Server 2019, after upgrading it to Windows Server 2025, it seems the way SQL Server full text has been changed and now LaserFiche index show "unknown state" as it cannot access (*.idx.sdw) files.

On Windows Server 2025 running SQL Server 2019, Laserfiche Search Engine is unable to access SQL full‑text catalog files (*.idx.sdw) located under E:\LFDBS\SEARCH, returning “Access Denied”, even though folder permissions are correct and other files are accessible. The issue does not occur on Windows Server 2016.

I did verified it when I stop LaserFiche and SQL services I was able to access the files, confirming that these files are locked and access-restricted during runtime, preventing Laserfiche from reading them.

How to resolve it?

The Search Catalog is not loaded or accessed by SQL.  They are only accessed by the Laserfiche Full Text Indexing and Search Engine.

To resolve the Unknown State error, delete the catalog through the LF Admin Console.  If it will not delete, then stop the Full Text Search service, delete everything in the E:\LFDBS\SEARCH folder, and restart the Search service.  Finally, if still shown in the indexing node delete the search catalog and re create it.
