Question

Question

How do you grant a user access to the smart chat feature?

asked on April 15

It says in the docs

https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche/en-us/content/admin-laserfiche-ai.htm?Highlight=smart%20chat

A user must have the Read entry access right for a document to use Smart Chat for that document. If a document contains redactions, responses from Smart Chat will use the redacted text, to ensure that protected information cannot be accidentally exposed. If you are solely asking Smart Chat questions about Laserfiche using Laserfiche educational resources, rather than about specific documents, it can be used by any user.

In addition to this though, how do you add the smart chat feature to their bar so they can access it when they are looking at the repository or a document? This icon:

In Cloud Repository Administration you also need to ensure that the AI Features are enabled.  This can be found on the General tab under the Advanced node.  Note: these settings are global to the specified repository and not granular to the user/group level.  So either everyone gets access or nobody gets access based on what you check/uncheck.

Well how do I give all users access to Smart Chat?

The options are enabled and have been enabled for some time

But users do not have the same chat option on their toolbar in the repository.

The only place they can use Smart Chat is in individual documents where it shows up on the toolbar.

They want to experiment with using it across a collection of document in a folder and even when selecting a folder it does not appear.

In our Cloud system if we are looking at the repository folder structure, we always have the Smart Chat feature available on our toolbar.

What browser are you using? We have an issue under investigation where the AI button sometimes does not show up in Firefox.

@Miruna - if it helps I have a Firefox HAR trace where the button was not present and another Firefox HAR trace where the AI button is present (same browser, same system, minutes apart just refreshing and the AI button appeared.  7zip of HAR files attached (just rename the txt file extension back to .7z)

Chrome and Firefox. I was using Firefox with the CustomerAssist account, but the customer is using Chrome.

I only use Firefox for CustomerAssist connections to keep my session from breaking and kicking me out of our cloud system.

Shawn, thanks, we'll take a look.

Chad, I do like Firefox for the same reason. Its containers feature makes it really easy to be logged into multiple accounts at once and not mix up cookies and sessions. Chrome and Edge's profiles are not as versatile.

Oh I was just using it without the multiple account features for CustomerAssist connections only. But the real problem is not on my end, it is the customer who is looking to try out Smart Chat after a demo and I don't know to add it to their toolbar. They are using Chrome so it is not a Firefox bug.

It's like no one can use Smart Fields or Smart Chat, we can only talk about it but it's all a myth.
