Forms Modern Designer Field Rules Performance: Field by Field vs Combined

asked on April 13

In the Forms Modern Designer, I’ve found myself creating field rules on a per‑field basis since it’s so easy to do directly from the Layout page, rather than having to navigate to the Field Rules page like in the Classic Designer.

As a result, a new process I’m working on now has about 75 field rules. I’m curious whether creating field rules this way—field by field, instead of combining them—could cause any performance issues when the form loads.

If multiple rules share the same criteria and differ only by target/action, combining into one multi-target rule is generally better performance wise.

The performance difference is specifically dependent on whether or not the fields are in a table/collection. i.e. separate rules for each column of a table will perform worse than one rule for the table (assuming actions are the same obviously)

I can't quantify the performance gains, but that's what my agent gave me as an explanation.
