We’re excited to share some changes to how Laserfiche AI usage is measured in Laserfiche Cloud.
Instead of separate consumption limits for Smart Fields extractions and Smart Requests, we're introducing a single, unified usage type: AI units.
Usage of any advanced, high-volume, or background AI processes will all draw from a shared pool of AI units, which are allocated as an annual allowance based on subscription tier with the flexibility to purchase additional capacity. AI units measure the "cost" of a request/task, where consumption is weighted by the complexity and value of the request/task.
Another key change in Laserfiche’s updated AI usage model is the removal of fixed consumption limits for manual, user-initiated AI interactions. This allows users to explore and use Laserfiche AI tools freely without worrying about using up a limited allowance, or needing to monitor or ration usage. Tasks triggered manually will move instead to a "soft-limit" model, where rather than being outright blocked, performance may be throttled based on usage.
Ultimately, these changes simplify how AI usage is measured and make AI a more readily available capability, helping organizations unlock more value from their Laserfiche investment.
