Custom Query Rows Affected Token

asked on April 6 • Show version history

When I use a custom query activity in Workflow and use an UPDATE statement, in the Messages tab of the run instance it will tell me the number of rows affected. I don't see this value as an output token from the activity though. I do see 2 output tokens labeled "Results Found" and "Result Count". Do one of those tokens hold the number of rows affected? If not, can it be added as an additional output token? The online help files do not list any of the output tokens for the Custom Query activity.

I saw an Answers post that talked about using the Output clause in the query to get the value, but to me it makes more sense to be added to the activity itself since it is already getting the value. No reason to have it in both places.

Running Workflow v.12.0.2510.3321.

I guess I didn't add why this would be useful. When you have a Custom Query activity that performs an Update query, if it doesn't find the row to update the activity still shows that it executed successfully, which means that no one would really know if it didn't update a row. These are being found later on by users. We could add another query activity that queries based on what it was supposed to be updated to, but it would be a lot simpler to have an ouput token from the activity.
