Today, April 2nd, 2026, Laserfiche is posting our deprecation policy and the list of currently deprecated modules. The deprecation list can be referenced to avoid starting use of older technology or to help plan transition off of functionality before EOL is officially announced.
FAQ
What does it mean to deprecate something from an operational standpoint?
When a feature or module is designated as deprecated, Laserfiche will:
- Add it to the official list of deprecated features.
- Optionally mark it as deprecated in product documentation.
- Optionally mark it as deprecated within the product user interface.
- Optionally provide feature‑specific guidance, such as expectations for which types of issues or defects may still be addressed.
How will customers and Solution Providers be informed?
Laserfiche will communicate deprecation status through:
- This publicly available deprecation policy.
- A publicly maintained list of deprecated features and modules.
How is deprecation different from “sunset”?
Within Laserfiche, sunset refers to a defined transitional phase for products or SKUs that are actively sold. When a product is sunset:
- New sales are discontinued.
- No new versions are released.
- Customers may continue to pay for support and receive limited assistance.
- Fixes may still be provided, but they are not guaranteed.
- Sunset status applies specifically to products or SKUs offered for sale (e.g., Laserfiche Plus).
More broadly, the industry commonly distinguishes the terms as follows:
- Sunset is a clearly defined transition period between active development and EOL.
- Deprecation is an early warning phase that often does not include a defined end date.
Key differences between deprecation and sunset:
- Deprecation does not include a scheduled date for transition to EOL.
- A deprecated feature may remain available for an extended period if no compliance, security, or functional issues arise.
- Deprecation typically applies to features or modules that are not sold as standalone SKUs.
