It is a common need to grant groups access to child folders within nested departmental folders so it would be immensely helpful to have an option when assigning full rights to a folder to traverse all parent folders and add view only, this entry only for the same group as your setting it's full rights on the target folder.

Feature Request - Traverse View Only, This Entry Only on Parent Folders
Why not make use of inheritance? Breaking the inheritance chain compounds load when doing security calculations when browsing or searching entries. Are you explicitly trying to make it so people can browse folders but not see files?
Usually they are just trying to make it so that certain groups have access to a collection of specific folders within the parent chain yet can still browse down to the folders if they are manually browsing. Inheritance is already working and useful, there are just situations where groups need specific access to folders and that means all parent folders need assigned view access as well for browsing.
IE if a group needs access to only: \Division\Dept\Resource\Some Folder
They also need view / this entry only on \Divison, \Dept, and \Resource if they want to be able to browse to the \Some Folder manually
