Searching within LF has definitely improved with v12, but I think it would be even better with two additional search criteria added - right now both of these can be viewed using columns in the document viewer, but aren't available through search.

Electronic File Last Modified Date

This is most useful for organizations like ours that have lots of historical documents, since the "Creation Date" and "Last Modified" fields by default set to date of import, but the Electronic File Last Modified date stays set to whatever it was in Windows unless it is modified after ingestion.

Use Case

Looking for files moved into LF as part of bulk migration that haven't been modified for a long time - typically this is historical documentation. In municipal government, there are many instances where something like a drainage project from the 1980s can have long-lasting implications. Being able to differentiate between a PDF that was last modified in 2014 (but imported in 2025) vs a group of files that contain the term "2014" would be very useful narrowing criteria.

File Checked Out - Y/N

As a system administrator, it's very easy for me to see all files that are currently locked/checked out by users, but it would be helpful for end users to be able to search by whether a file is locked or not. Right now, there is the ability to find files checked out by a particular user, but the username field does not support wildcards, so it can't act as a binary flag.

Use Case

A user is working on a commonly-shared sheet that she updates with four other admin assistants. They are constantly checking the sheet out, making changes, and checking it back in. Instead of having to know which admin assistant could have the file locked, or enter all of their names to search for files any of them have checked out, the user could search for files that are checked out (status rather than dependent on a specific user), and see at a glance if she's good to work on the file.
