Question

Trigger look up rule manually

asked on March 24

I have a lookup rule that does not have a condition in classic form. How can I trigger that manually in javascript?

Are you wanting a button or a field change to know when to rerun the lookup?

Thanks Angela. I have a html button in the form called Reset. When I click that I want to clear the dropdown and trigger the lookup rule again. That particular rule does not have any condition, it is only filling the dropdown.

I cannot find a way to do that without a trigger.  The trick I've always used is to have the button send a value to a hidden field to run the lookup again without refreshing the page.  Since you don't have anything to trigger it again after the form loads, I'm not sure there is a way to run the lookup again, even with JS.  I tested a few things and can blank out the selected value in the drop down, but it doesn't update the selection options if values are added or removed.
