Repository API Server Version 2 Now Available in Self-Hosted

We’re excited to announce that V2 of the Repository API Server is now available for self-hosted systems! 

The new version allows you to build powerful integrations and tap into the Laserfiche platform in new and meaningful ways that were not previously available for self-hosted installations, bringing new capabilities such as: 

  • PDF page generation on import 

  • Robust document export options (Image, Text, and Electronic Document) 

  • Standardized long operation APIs 

  • Many developer ergonomics improvements

The latest v2 release for self-hosted is pretty much identical to v2 in Cloud, but there are some minor differences that you can review on our developer site.  I'd also suggest reviewing this page on the site as well for a general overview of everything.

Since .net 8 has an EOL of November, 2026, can we expect a patched version sometime this year that uses .net 10 instead?

Hi Andrew!  Yes, we will release an update to address the .NET 8 EOL in the near future.

Can we get an update of when Laserfiche is expecting this to release to come out that supports the .NET 10 release and doesn't require the .NET 8 for the BinaryFormatter that was discontinued in .NET 9?

Hi all, thanks for this!

Can I please ask for confirmation on the following:

  1. Can clients update only the API Server to the latest version, without having to update their Laserfiche Server or other environment? (i.e. if the client is on LF11 or earlier LF12 for the 'site', can they update only the API Server and will it work fine with older versions of the LF Server)
  2. Once updated to the latest API Server, can it receive both V1 (existing) and V2 (new) calls simultaneously?

Hello Laserfiche Team,

We are currently working on an integration using the Laserfiche Self-Hosted API (V1). One of our requirements is the ability to import files larger than the current simple import limit of 100 MB.

We were hoping that the Self-Hosted V2 API would support chunked (multipart) uploads similar to the Laserfiche Cloud API. Could you please confirm if chunked upload functionality is planned for a future Self-Hosted release?

If chunked uploads are not on the roadmap, are there any plans to increase the file size limit for simple imports?

Additionally, could you recommend any supported approaches or best practices for importing files larger than 100 MB, particularly within a Salesforce integration?

This is actually possible in v1 and v2, with one slight difference.  Take a look at our docs, but there is a parameter that controls upload size limit named "UploadFileSizeLimitMb" that you can change in our JSON settings file (different location between v1 and v2).  You may need to adjust some IIS settings as well.

 

I don't have any recommendations necessarily, but we've tested up to 1GB files using the API Server with no issues, so you should be fine.

My development team continues to ask whether chunked upload functionality is planned for the future roadmap of the Self-Hosted API.

Could you provide any guidance or information that I can share with the team regarding current plans or potential future support for this functionality?

This is not currently planned for self-hosted as it relies on backend resources only available in a Cloud environment.  With that said, self-hosted customers have more flexibility in tuning their systems to support larger file transfers via IIS settings.
