[LFF501-RoutingEngineDown] When enabling email approval

asked on March 11

Hello all, I'd like to see if anyone can point me down the right path for some troubleshooting.

In Forms Configuration/Email Settings/Email Approval, Im trying to enable email approval and have the 'click an action button in an email to complete tasks' active.  Everytime I try to save, I get this error:

Email configuration failed. Forms cannot connect to the Laserfiche Routing Service because the service is not running. [LFF501-RoutingEngineDown]

The setting does get saved, but LaserFiche stops sending out emails during user tasks when enabled.  We double checked that the services are running, double checked firewall settings and double checked our cert.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Steve, it's best if you open a support case so your SP and our team can investigate. When you do, we recommend using Laserfiche Support Tools to quickly and easily retrieve your Forms configuration files, software versions, and service identities. The LF Support Tools menu options for these are:

  • Service Diagnostics > Get Forms Config Files
  • System Information > Discover Laserfiche Services and IIS Apps

If multiple Forms instances are involved here (e.g., DMZ setup), run those on each server and attach everything to the case.

Getting a "Forms cannot connect to the Laserfiche Routing Service because the service is not running." error when you've verified the Forms Routing Service is in fact running typically means there's a communication and/or internal auth issue between the Forms IIS app and the backend Windows service.
