Question

Mapping Multiple Value Form Checkbox to Multiple Value Metadata Field Checkbox

asked on March 3

I'm using the modern form designer in Laserfiche cloud, and I'm trying to save a form to the repository and configure metadata fields to match my form field variables.  I have a multi-value checkbox field on the form that I haven't been able to match to a multi-value metadata checkbox field correctly in my template when it saves to the repository.

The only way I've found to get all the form values into the metadata field is to change the metadata field from a checkbox "List" type to a "Text" type. Then, all the values populate separated by a comma: Choice 1, Choice 2, Choice 3.  I can live with this if it's the only option, but I would prefer the metadata template have the multiple checkboxes than a text field.  Any other solutions for this?  Thank You!

Yes, this is an interesting question, i will keep my on this to see if there is a unified solution.

My first thought was to create separate metadata fields for each value in the form check list as radio button and then group them together in a section so they present as one. Then you could map each checkbox item into each separate meta field.

Yes, that's a good thought. I've also experimented with making three separate checkbox fields on the form with only one checkbox each, and then use CSS codes to hide the labels and change the spacing to make it look like it's only one multi-value checkbox field on the form, but I can't get the corresponding template fields to look like that as well. There are only three choices and the values are small, so a single multi-value checkbox looks neater and easier to read.
